Description
Chloroquine Phosphate Injection
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of time-tested antiprotozoal agents. We provide high-purity Chloroquine Phosphate Injection (40 mg/ml), sourced from WHO–GMP certified sterile injectable facilities. While resistance has limited its use against *Falciparum* malaria, this “Amebic Liver Specialist” remains a top export to tropical medicine units and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia as the drug of choice for *P. vivax* malaria and extra-intestinal amebiasis (Liver Abscess).
Product Overview
This formulation contains Chloroquine Phosphate, a 4-aminoquinoline compound that has been the backbone of malaria treatment for decades.
The “Double-Action” Specialist:
- Mechanism (The “Heme Trap”): Malaria parasites digest hemoglobin inside red blood cells, releasing toxic free heme. They normally polymerize this heme into non-toxic hemozoin pigment. Chloroquine enters the parasite and blocks this polymerization enzyme. The accumulation of toxic free heme causes the parasite’s membrane to lyse, killing it.
- Amebic Liver Abscess: Chloroquine concentrates heavily in the liver (levels are 500x higher than in plasma). This makes it highly effective against Entamoeba histolytica trophozoites that have invaded the liver tissue, often curing abscesses where Metronidazole alone has failed or is contraindicated.

- Photo-Stability: Chloroquine is highly sensitive to UV light, which degrades it into toxic metabolites (causing color change). We use double-amber glass protection and UV-blocking secondary packaging to ensuring stability in harsh tropical climates.
- Sterility Assurance: Multi-dose vials contain preservatives (Chlorocresol/Benzyl Alcohol) added under strict aseptic conditions to prevent bacterial growth after the vial is first punctured.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the treatment of specific protozoal infections:
- Malaria: Treatment of acute attacks caused by *P. vivax*, *P. malariae*, *P. ovale*, and susceptible strains of *P. falciparum*.
- Extra-Intestinal Amebiasis: Hepatic Amebiasis (Liver Abscess) typically used after or with Metronidazole/Tinidazole failure.
- Note: Not effective for intestinal amebiasis (cysts).
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Route: Intramuscular (IM) Injection Preferred. (IV use is dangerous and requires slow infusion).
- Malaria (Adults): Initial 160 mg to 200 mg Base (approx 4-5 ml) IM. Repeat after 6 hours if needed. Total dose not to exceed 800 mg base in first 24 hours. Switch to oral therapy as soon as possible.
- Amebic Liver Abscess: 160 mg to 200 mg Base IM daily for 10-12 days.
- Children: 3.5 mg Base/kg body weight every 6 hours. Warning: Children are extremely sensitive to overdose.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Hypotension & Arrhythmia (FATAL): Rapid IV injection causes sudden drop in blood pressure and cardiac arrest. NEVER give as IV Bolus. If IV is necessary, dilute in saline and infuse slowly over >1 hour.
- Retinopathy: Long-term use can cause irreversible retinal damage. (Less relevant for short-course injectable therapy).
