Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) or Intramuscular (IM).
• Adults: 10 mg (one ampoule) IV or IM up to 3 times daily.
• IV Administration: Inject slowly over at least 1 to 2 minutes. Rapid injection can cause intense anxiety (“impending doom”) and restlessness.
• Pediatrics: Strictly weight-based (0.1 to 0.15 mg/kg). Avoid in children < 1 year due to EPS risk.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Extrapyramidal Symptoms (EPS): Can cause acute dystonia (muscle spasms, locked jaw, oculogyric crisis), especially in young adults and children. Treat with Diphenhydramine.
• Tardive Dyskinesia: Long-term use (>12 weeks) can cause irreversible involuntary movements. Do not use for chronic treatment.
• Intestinal Obstruction: CONTRAINDICATED in patients with bowel obstruction or perforation (prokinetic effect can cause rupture).
