Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)

Indicated for the treatment and prevention of infections:

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Injection/Infusion or Deep IM.
• Adults: 500 mg to 1 g every 4 to 6 hours.
• Severe Infections: Up to 2 g every 4 hours (Max 12 g/day).
• Surgical Prophylaxis: 1 g to 2 g IV administered 30-60 minutes before incision.
• Renal Impairment: Dose reduction required if Creatinine Clearance < 50 ml/min.
• Reconstitution: Dissolve 1g vial in 10ml WFI. Shake well until clear.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Thrombophlebitis (Vein Irritation): Frequent IV injection can cause inflammation of the vein. Rotate injection sites every 48 hours and use larger veins.
• IM Pain: Intramuscular injection is painful. Reconstitution with 1% Lidocaine is recommended for IM use.
• Penicillin Allergy: Cross-reactivity occurs in 10% of patients. CONTRAINDICATED in anaphylaxis to penicillins.
• Nephrotoxicity: Monitor kidney function if used concurrently with aminoglycosides (Gentamicin).
