Description
Bupivacaine Hydrochloride Injection (Heavy / Plain)
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of long-acting amide anesthetics. We provide high-purity Bupivacaine Injection (0.5% Heavy / 0.5% Plain), sourced from WHO–GMP certified sterile injectable facilities. This “Surgical Block Specialist” is a top export to maternity wards, orthopedic centers, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the absolute standard for spinal anesthesia in Caesarean sections and lower limb surgeries.
Product Overview
We supply two distinct formulations of Bupivacaine Hydrochloride to cover all regional anesthesia needs:
The “Precision Block” Specialist:
- Bupivacaine Heavy (Hyperbaric): Contains Dextrose (8%). This makes the solution denser than cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). When injected into the spine, gravity pulls the drug down to specific nerve roots depending on the patient’s position (sitting or lying), allowing the anesthetist to precisely control the “level” of the block (e.g., T4 for C-section).
- Bupivacaine Plain (Isobaric): Contains no dextrose. It has the same density as CSF and is used for Epidural anesthesia and peripheral nerve blocks where spread is less dependent on gravity.
- Mechanism: It reversibly binds to intracellular sodium channels, blocking the influx of sodium ions required for nerve impulse conduction. It provides a Long Duration of Action (3-6 hours), making it ideal for lengthy surgeries.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Dextrose Stability: In “Heavy” Bupivacaine, the Dextrose can caramelize (turn yellow) if exposed to high heat during sterilization. We use validated aseptic processing or strictly controlled terminal sterilization cycles to ensure the solution remains crystal clear and colorless.
- Endotoxin Control: Since this drug is injected directly into the spine (Intrathecal), our endotoxin limits are far stricter than standard IV drugs to prevent aseptic meningitis.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for regional anesthesia and analgesia:
- Spinal Anesthesia (Heavy 0.5%): Caesarean Section (C-Section), Hysterectomy, Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TURP), and Lower Limb Orthopedic Surgery.
- Epidural Anesthesia (Plain 0.5%): Management of labor pain (painless delivery) and post-operative pain management.
- Peripheral Nerve Blocks: Brachial plexus block, Femoral nerve block.
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Anesthesiologist):
- Spinal Anesthesia (Intrathecal): 2 ml to 4 ml (10-20 mg) of Bupivacaine Heavy. Effect is almost immediate (2-5 mins).
- Epidural Block: 10 ml to 20 ml of Bupivacaine Plain (often mixed with Fentanyl/Adrenaline). Effect takes 15-20 mins.
- Max Dose: Not to exceed 175 mg in a single dose (for blocks).
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Cardiotoxicity (The “Bupivacaine Risk”): Accidental Intravenous (IV) injection causes profound cardiovascular collapse (arrest) that is difficult to resuscitate. Lipid Emulsion Therapy (Intralipid) is the antidote.
- Hypotension: Spinal anesthesia causes rapid vasodilation and hypotension. Pre-loading the patient with IV fluids is mandatory.
- Identification: ALWAYS verify if the ampoule is “Heavy” (with Dextrose) or “Plain” before injection. Using the wrong type can lead to a failed block or dangerously high block.
