Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Deep Intramuscular (IM) Injection ONLY. (Upper outer quadrant of the buttock).
• WARNING: NEVER give Intravenously (IV). Accidental IV injection can cause cardiorespiratory arrest and death (Hoigne’s Syndrome).
• Rheumatic Prophylaxis (Adults/Children >27kg): 1.2 Million Units once every 3-4 weeks.
• Syphilis (Primary/Secondary): 2.4 Million Units (usually given as two 1.2 MIU injections) as a single dose.
• Reconstitution: Add 3-4ml Sterile Water. Shake vigorously. Inject immediately.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Penicillin Allergy (ANAPHYLAXIS): CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity. A skin test (AST) is mandatory.
• Vascular Injury: Accidental intra-arterial injection can cause severe necrosis (Nicolau Syndrome). Always aspirate before injecting.
• Pain/Discomfort: The injection volume can be painful. Warming the vial to body temperature and injecting slowly can help.
