Description
Acyclovir Dispersible Tablets
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of essential antiviral and dermatological therapies. We provide high-purity Acyclovir Dispersible Tablets (200 mg / 400 mg / 800 mg), manufactured in WHO–GMP certified oral solid dosage facilities. This “Nucleoside Analogue” is a mandatory export to infectious disease centers, pediatric clinics, dermatology departments, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the frontline intervention for combating Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) and Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) infections.
Product Overview
This formulation contains Acyclovir, a synthetic purine nucleoside analogue with highly selective inhibitory activity against human herpesviruses.
The “Selective Viral Terminator” Specialist:
- Mechanism (Viral DNA Chain Termination): Acyclovir is a prodrug that is only activated inside cells infected by the virus. It is selectively phosphorylated by the viral enzyme thymidine kinase into acyclovir monophosphate. Cellular kinases then convert it into the active triphosphate form. This active molecule competitively inhibits viral DNA polymerase and incorporates itself into the growing viral DNA strand, causing immediate chain termination and halting viral replication without harming normal, uninfected host cells.
- The Dispersible Advantage: Standard Acyclovir regimens often require frequent dosing (up to 5 times a day) of large, hard-to-swallow tablets. Our rapidly disintegrating, dispersible formulation dissolves completely in a small amount of water within minutes. This ensures maximum patient compliance for pediatric patients (chickenpox) and geriatric patients with dysphagia (shingles).
- Chronic Suppression: Beyond acute treatment, Acyclovir is the global gold standard for the daily, long-term suppressive therapy of recurrent genital herpes, drastically reducing outbreak frequency and viral shedding.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Rapid Dispersion Kinetics: Our formulation strictly adheres to pharmacopeial standards for dispersible tablets, utilizing premium superdisintegrants (like Crospovidone or Sodium Starch Glycolate) to ensure the tablet fully disperses into a smooth, lump-free suspension in water within exactly 3 minutes, without compromising the stability of the API.
- Taste-Masking Technology: Because the tablet is dissolved and tasted rather than swallowed whole, the formulation incorporates optimized sweetening and flavoring agents to mask the inherently bitter profile of the Acyclovir base, ensuring high pediatric acceptability.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of specific viral infections:
- Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): Treatment of initial and recurrent genital herpes, and severe herpes labialis (cold sores).
- Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) – Shingles: Acute treatment of herpes zoster to reduce pain, accelerate lesion healing, and prevent post-herpetic neuralgia.
- Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) – Chickenpox: Treatment of chickenpox in immunocompetent patients, particularly children and adolescents.
- Prophylaxis: Prevention of HSV infections in severely immunocompromised patients (e.g., advanced HIV/AIDS or post-transplant).
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Administration: Disperse the tablet(s) in a minimum of 50 ml of water, stir well, and drink immediately. May also be swallowed whole with water if preferred.
- HSV Treatment (Adults): 200 mg five times daily (approximately every 4 hours, omitting the night dose) for 5 days.
- HSV Suppression: 400 mg twice daily, or 200 mg up to four times daily.
- Shingles / Herpes Zoster (Adults): 800 mg five times daily for 7 to 10 days. Treatment should begin within 72 hours of rash onset.
- Chickenpox (Pediatrics >2 years): 20 mg/kg (up to a maximum of 800 mg) four times daily for 5 days.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Crystal Nephropathy (Renal Impairment): Acyclovir is excreted primarily by the kidneys. High doses (especially the 800 mg regimen) can precipitate as crystals in the renal tubules, causing acute kidney injury. Adequate oral hydration is absolutely mandatory during treatment. Dosages must be reduced in patients with existing renal impairment.
- Neurological Reactions: Particularly in the elderly or those with renal dysfunction, severe encephalopathic changes (confusion, hallucinations, agitation, tremors) can occur if the dose is not appropriately adjusted.
