Description

Doxycycline Capsules

Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of essential broad-spectrum antimicrobials and travel medicine therapeutics. We provide high-purity Doxycycline Capsules (100 mg), manufactured in WHO–GMP certified oral solid dosage facilities. This “Second-Generation Tetracycline” is a mandatory, high-volume export to infectious disease clinics, dermatology centers, travel medicine hubs, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as a critical intervention for atypical bacterial infections, severe acne, and malaria prophylaxis.

Product Overview

This formulation contains Doxycycline (as Doxycycline Hyclate), a highly lipophilic, semi-synthetic tetracycline antibiotic derived from oxytetracycline.

The “Intracellular Pathogen” Specialist:

  • Mechanism (30S Subunit Blockade): Doxycycline is a bacteriostatic agent. It easily penetrates the bacterial lipid bilayer and binds reversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit. By physically blocking the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex, it halts the addition of amino acids to the growing peptide chain, effectively shutting down bacterial protein synthesis and preventing replication.
  • Intracellular Penetration: Because of its high lipid solubility, Doxycycline excels at penetrating human cells to hunt down bacteria that hide intracellularly. This makes it the global gold standard for atypical and tick-borne pathogens like Rickettsia (Rocky Mountain spotted fever), Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease), and Chlamydia trachomatis.
  • The Antimalarial & Anti-Inflammatory Edge: Beyond its antibacterial properties, it impairs the apicoplast of the Plasmodium falciparum parasite, making it a frontline choice for malaria prophylaxis. In dermatology, it exhibits potent anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), making it highly effective for moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris and rosacea.

Manufacturing Authority

Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.

  • Hygroscopic Control: Doxycycline Hyclate absorbs moisture rapidly, which can lead to degradation into toxic epimers. Our encapsulation lines operate under strict, low-humidity environmental controls (RH <30%) to guarantee long-term stability and therapeutic safety over a 36-month shelf life.
  • Dissolution Optimization: The formulation is engineered for rapid dissolution in the stomach, ensuring fast peak serum concentrations while minimizing prolonged contact time with the gastric mucosa.

Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)

Indicated for the treatment of a vast array of bacterial and protozoal infections:

  • Sexually Transmitted Infections: Uncomplicated urethral, endocervical, or rectal infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Also an alternative for Syphilis.
  • Tick-Borne Diseases: Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Typhus, Q fever, and early-stage Lyme disease.
  • Respiratory Tract Infections: Atypical pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae or Chlamydophila pneumoniae.
  • Dermatology: Adjunctive therapy for severe cystic acne vulgaris and rosacea.
  • Travel Medicine: Prophylaxis of Malaria (specifically chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium falciparum) and treatment of Cholera.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

  • Standard Adult Infection: 200 mg on the first day of treatment (administered as 100 mg every 12 hours), followed by a maintenance dose of 100 mg daily.
  • Severe Infections (e.g., severe tick-borne): 100 mg every 12 hours.
  • Malaria Prophylaxis: 100 mg daily, beginning 1 to 2 days before travel to an endemic area, continuing daily during travel, and for exactly 4 weeks after leaving the endemic area.
  • Swallowing Protocol (CRITICAL): Capsules must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. Patients MUST remain sitting or standing upright for at least 30 minutes after taking the dose to prevent the capsule from lodging in the esophagus, which causes severe chemical esophageal ulceration.
  • Dietary Restrictions (Chelation): Must not be taken simultaneously with milk, dairy products, antacids (calcium, magnesium, aluminum), or iron supplements. Doxycycline aggressively binds to these multivalent cations, forming insoluble complexes that completely block its absorption. Separate by at least 2 hours.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

  • Pediatric & Pregnancy Contraindication: DO NOT use in pregnant women or children under 8 years of age. Doxycycline strongly binds to calcium in developing teeth and bones, causing permanent yellow-gray-brown tooth discoloration and reversible inhibition of bone growth.
  • Photosensitivity: Exaggerated sunburn reactions can occur. Patients must avoid excessive sunlight or artificial UV exposure and wear sunscreen while taking this drug.
  • Intracranial Hypertension: Benign intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri) has been associated with tetracycline use, presenting as severe headache and blurred vision.
