Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion or Deep IM.
- Adults: 2 g to 4 g (total combo) daily, divided into two doses (every 12 hours).
- Severe Infections: Up to 8 g daily (4g Cefoperazone + 4g Sulbactam).
- Renal Impairment: Dose adjustment based on Sulbactam clearance is required if GFR < 30 ml/min.
- Reconstitution: Dissolve 1.5g vial in 5-10ml WFI. Shake vigorously.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Disulfiram-like Reaction (ALCOHOL WARNING): Strictly NO ALCOHOL for 72 hours after injection. The NMTT side chain blocks alcohol metabolism, causing severe illness.
- Bleeding Risk: Prolonged use may cause Hypoprothrombinemia. Vitamin K supplementation is advised for patients with poor diet or malabsorption.
- Allergy: CONTRAINDICATED in penicillin/cephalosporin anaphylaxis.
