Description

Cefepime & Tazobactam Injection

Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of advanced fourth-generation cephalosporin combinations. We provide high-purity Cefepime & Tazobactam Injection (1.125 g), sourced from WHO–GMP certified sterile injectable facilities. This “MDR Specialist” is a top export to oncology centers, transplant units, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the ultimate empirical defense against resistant Gram-negative bacteria, including ESBL-producers and AmpC-hyperproducers.

Product Overview

This formulation combines Cefepime, a fourth-generation zwitterionic cephalosporin, with Tazobactam, a potent beta-lactamase inhibitor.

The “Resistance Breaker” Specialist:

  • The Problem (ESBLs & AmpC): While Cefepime is naturally stable against AmpC enzymes (common in Enterobacter), it can be destroyed by Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases (ESBLs) produced by E. coli and Klebsiella.
  • The Solution (Synergy): Tazobactam irreversibly binds to and neutralizes these ESBL enzymes. This “bodyguard” effect allows Cefepime to reach its target (PBP2/3) unimpeded.
  • Pseudomonas Potency: This combination offers the highest anti-pseudomonal activity among cephalosporins, making it superior to Ceftriaxone/Sulbactam for hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP/VAP).
  • Zwitterionic Penetration: Cefepime’s dipolar structure allows it to penetrate the bacterial outer membrane faster than other beta-lactams, killing pathogens before they can mount a defense.

  • Arginine Buffering: Standard sodium buffers can interact with Tazobactam. We use L-Arginine to buffer the Cefepime, which improves solubility and stability while keeping the sodium load lower than other combinations.
  • Sterile Blending: Cefepime is sensitive to heat, while Tazobactam is sensitive to moisture. Our unique aseptic blending process ensures both molecules remain stable without degradation into nephrotoxic byproducts.

Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)

Indicated for the treatment of severe, life-threatening infections:

  • Febrile Neutropenia: First-line empirical therapy for high-risk cancer patients.
  • Severe Nosocomial Pneumonia: VAP and HAP caused by MDR Pseudomonas or Klebsiella.
  • Complicated Intra-abdominal Infections: Peritonitis and biliary tract infections.
  • Complicated UTIs: Pyelonephritis caused by ESBL-producing bacteria.
  • Septicemia: Gram-negative sepsis.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

  • Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion Preferred. (Over 30 minutes).
  • Adults: 1.125 g to 2.25 g every 12 hours.
  • Febrile Neutropenia / Severe Infection: 2.25 g every 8 hours.
  • Renal Impairment (CRITICAL): Dose adjustment is mandatory if Creatinine Clearance < 50 ml/min to prevent neurotoxicity.
  • Reconstitution: Dissolve 1.125g vial in 10ml WFI/Saline. Solution turns pale yellow to amber.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

  • Neurotoxicity (Encephalopathy): Accumulation of Cefepime in renal failure patients can cause seizures, confusion, and coma. Strict renal monitoring is required.
  • Penicillin Allergy: CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of anaphylaxis to beta-lactams.
  • Clostridium difficile: Can cause antibiotic-associated colitis.
