• Mechanism (Cell Wall Lysis): Penicillin G binds to specific Penicillin-Binding Proteins (PBPs) inside the bacterial cell wall. Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intramuscular (IM) or Intravenous (IV) Injection / Infusion.
• Adults: 1 to 5 Million IU every 4-6 hours. (Up to 24 MU/day in Neurosyphilis).
• Children: 100,000 to 250,000 IU/kg/day in divided doses.
• Reconstitution: Dissolve in Sterile Water for Injection. Shake well until clear.
• Intrathecal Use: CONTRAINDICATED. Do not inject into the spine (causes convulsions/death).

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Penicillin Allergy (ANAPHYLAXIS): CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity. A standard sensitivity test (AST) must be performed before the first dose.
• Jarisch-Herxheimer Reaction: Common in Syphilis treatment. Sudden fever and headache due to massive bacterial death. This is not an allergy.
• Neurotoxicity: Massive doses (>20 MU/day) or use in renal failure can cause seizures.
