Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Deep Intramuscular (IM) Injection ONLY. (Upper outer quadrant of the buttock).
• WARNING: NEVER give Intravenously (IV). Accidental IV injection can cause cardiorespiratory arrest and death (Hoigne’s Syndrome).
• Adult Syphilis: 2.4 Million Units as a single dose (split into two sites if volume is large).
• Rheumatic Prophylaxis: 1.2 Million Units once every 3-4 weeks.
• Reconstitution: Add 4-5ml Sterile Water. Shake vigorously. Inject immediately.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Penicillin Allergy (ANAPHYLAXIS): CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity. A skin test (AST) is mandatory.
• Nicolau Syndrome: Accidental intra-arterial injection can cause severe necrosis and gangrene of the limb. Always aspirate before injecting.
• Pain: The injection is painful due to volume and viscosity. Use a large bore needle (21G) and inject slowly.
