Description
Ampicillin Capsules
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of essential broad-spectrum beta-lactam antimicrobials. We provide high-purity Ampicillin Capsules (250 mg / 500 mg), manufactured in WHO–GMP certified, completely dedicated penicillin oral solid dosage facilities. This “Extended-Spectrum Aminopenicillin” is a massive-volume, foundational export to primary care clinics, pediatric hospitals, NGOs, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the gold-standard first-line intervention for respiratory tract, gastrointestinal, and susceptible urogenital infections.
Product Overview
This formulation contains Ampicillin (as Ampicillin Trihydrate), a highly potent, semi-synthetic aminopenicillin antibiotic.
The “Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactam” Specialist:
- Mechanism (Cell Wall Synthesis Blockade): Like all penicillins, Ampicillin is bactericidal. It penetrates the bacterial cell envelope (utilizing porin channels in Gram-negative bacteria) and binds with high affinity to specific Penicillin-Binding Proteins (PBPs). It halts the final stage of peptidoglycan cross-linking, physically weakening the cell wall until osmotic pressure causes the bacteria to burst (lyse).
- The Aminopenicillin Advantage: While standard Penicillin G or V is highly effective against Gram-positive organisms, the addition of an amino group to the Ampicillin molecule allows it to penetrate the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. This grants it potent activity against pathogens like Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Salmonella, and Shigella.
- Beta-Lactamase Susceptibility: It is important to note that Ampicillin is destroyed by beta-lactamase enzymes. It is therefore highly effective against non-penicillinase-producing strains, making it an ideal, cost-effective first-line empirical therapy before highly resistant strains are suspected.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- 100% Dedicated Penicillin Isolation: Regulatory guidelines strictly prohibit manufacturing penicillins in the same facilities as cephalosporins or general non-antibiotic drugs. Our Ampicillin is processed in a completely segregated manufacturing block featuring independent HVAC systems, airlocks, and dedicated operators to absolutely eliminate the risk of fatal cross-contamination.
- Gastric Dispersion Optimization: Formulated with premium disintegrants, ensuring the capsule shell ruptures rapidly in the stomach, achieving peak serum concentrations typically within 1.5 to 2 hours of ingestion.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the treatment of community-acquired bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains:
- Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs): Bronchitis, sinusitis, and otitis media caused by non-penicillinase-producing H. influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, or Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Gastrointestinal Infections: Bacterial gastroenteritis caused by Salmonella species (including S. typhi) and Shigella.
- Genitourinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Uncomplicated cystitis caused by E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, or Enterococcus faecalis.
- Meningitis: (Often in combination with other agents) caused by Listeria monocytogenes or susceptible Neisseria meningitidis.
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Administration (CRITICAL FOOD RULE): Unlike Amoxicillin, Ampicillin MUST be taken on an empty stomach (at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after meals). Food significantly significantly impairs its absorption in the GI tract.
- Standard Adult Dose: 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours (four times daily).
- Severe Infections (Adults): Higher doses may be required depending on the severity and site of infection.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- BLACK BOX WARNING (Anaphylaxis): Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity (anaphylactic) reactions have been reported in patients on penicillin therapy. It is strictly contraindicated in patients with a history of penicillin allergy. Cross-reactivity with cephalosporins is also possible.
- The “Mononucleosis Rash” (CRITICAL DIAGNOSTIC NOTE): A very high percentage of patients with infectious mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr virus) who receive Ampicillin develop a severe, generalized, non-allergic maculopapular rash. Ampicillin should not be administered to patients with suspected viral mononucleosis.
- Pseudomembranous Colitis: Can alter normal gut flora, leading to antibiotic-associated diarrhea or severe Clostridioides difficile-associated colitis (CDAC).
