Description
Artesunate Injection 60mg
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of the WHO-recommended first-line pediatric therapy for severe malaria. We provide high-purity Artesunate Injection (60mg), sourced from WHO–GMP certified sterile injectable facilities. This “Pediatric Rescue Dose” is a top export to pediatric intensive care units (PICU), rural health centers, and government health ministries in Africa (Sub-Saharan), LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the critical standard of care for saving children from severe and cerebral malaria.
Product Overview
This formulation contains Artesunate, a water-soluble hemisuccinate derivative of Artemisinin. The 60mg strength is specifically optimized for pediatric patients to ensure precise dosing and minimize wastage.
The “Child Survival” Specialist:
- Mechanism (The “Peroxide Bomb”): The antimalarial activity comes from the cleavage of the endoperoxide bridge by iron (heme) found inside the malaria parasite. This releases lethal free radicals that destroy the parasite’s membranes and proteins.
- Superior Survival Rates: The landmark AQUAMAT trial demonstrated that parenteral Artesunate reduces mortality in African children with severe malaria by 22.5% compared to Quinine. It is safer, faster-acting, and easier to administer.
- Solubility: Unlike oil-based Artemether, Artesunate 60mg can be given IV for immediate effect or IM if IV access is difficult in a dehydrated child.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Lyophilization Stability: Artesunate is highly unstable in the presence of moisture. We use advanced freeze-drying cycles to ensure the moisture content of the cake is <1.0%, guaranteeing a shelf life of 24-36 months even in tropical zones.
- Solvent Precision: The accompanying Sodium Bicarbonate ampoule is manufactured with precise molarity to ensure rapid and complete dissolution of the powder without causing effervescence (bubbling) that could lead to dose loss.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated as the Drug of Choice for severe malaria in children (< 20 kg):
- Severe Pediatric Malaria: Infection with Plasmodium falciparum in children unable to tolerate oral medication.
- Cerebral Malaria: Children presenting with convulsions or coma.
- Hyperparasitemia: Rapid reduction of parasite load to prevent organ failure.
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per WHO Guidelines):
- Dosing Schedule (Children < 20kg): 3.0 mg/kg body weight given at 0 hours, 12 hours, and 24 hours. Then once daily.
- Note: Children require a higher dose per kg (3.0 mg/kg) compared to adults (2.4 mg/kg) due to faster drug metabolism.
- Reconstitution (CRITICAL):
- Inject the Sodium Bicarbonate into the powder vial. Shake until clear.
- Add the Sodium Chloride to dilute.
- Administer immediately by slow IV (over 2 mins) or IM.
- Important: DO NOT use Water for Injection as the first solvent; it will not dissolve the powder.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Post-Artesunate Delayed Hemolysis (PADH): Monitor hemoglobin levels for 4 weeks post-treatment, as delayed red blood cell destruction can occur.
- Hypoglycemia: While less common than with Quinine, monitor blood glucose levels in unconscious children.
- Precipitation: If the solution becomes cloudy after reconstitution, discard immediately.
