Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Administration: Should be taken orally. To maximize absorption, it is best taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals). However, if severe gastrointestinal upset occurs, it may be taken with food.
• Standard Adult Dose: 250 mg every 6 hours (four times daily), or 500 mg every 12 hours.
• Severe Infections: Up to 4 grams per day in divided doses.
• Continuous Course: For streptococcal infections, treatment must be continued for at least 10 days to prevent the occurrence of acute rheumatic fever.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• CYP450 Enzyme Inhibition: Erythromycin is a potent inhibitor of the Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme system.
