Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion or Intramuscular (IM).
- Adults: 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours.
- Severe Infections (Endocarditis/Osteo): 1 g to 2 g every 4 to 6 hours.
- Children: 50 to 100 mg/kg/day divided into 4 doses.
- Reconstitution: Dissolve 500mg vial in 5-10ml WFI. Shake well.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- MRSA Ineffective: Cloxacillin is NOT EFFECTIVE against MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant *Staph aureus*). Use Vancomycin or Linezolid for MRSA.
- Penicillin Allergy: CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of anaphylaxis to penicillins or cephalosporins.
- Thrombophlebitis: IV infusion site must be rotated every 48 hours to prevent vein inflammation.
