Description

Carboplatin Injection

Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of advanced platinum-based antineoplastic agents. We provide high-purity Carboplatin Injection (150 mg / 450 mg), sourced from WHO–GMP certified Cytotoxic injectable facilities. This “Second-Generation Platinum” is a top export to oncology centers, chemotherapy daycare units, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the cornerstone therapy for ovarian and lung cancers with a significantly better safety profile than Cisplatin.

Product Overview

This formulation contains Carboplatin, a platinum coordination complex that acts as an alkylating agent.

The “Less Toxic” Specialist:

  • Mechanism (DNA Cross-linking): Like Cisplatin, Carboplatin enters the cancer cell and undergoes aquation. It binds to DNA, forming inter-strand and intra-strand cross-links (adducts). This “kinks” the DNA structure, inhibiting replication and transcription, which triggers apoptosis (cell death).
  • Safety Advantage: Carboplatin was developed specifically to reduce the severe side effects of Cisplatin. It causes significantly less nephrotoxicity (kidney damage), ototoxicity (hearing loss), and nausea/vomiting, making it suitable for outpatient therapy and elderly patients.
  • Dosing Precision (The Calvert Formula): Unlike most chemo drugs dosed by body surface area (BSA), Carboplatin is unique. It is dosed based on the patient’s kidney function (GFR) to achieve a target “Area Under the Curve” (AUC), ensuring maximum efficacy with minimal toxicity.

Manufacturing Authority

Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.

  • Oncology Containment: Manufactured in a dedicated Cytotoxic facility using isolator technology to prevent cross-contamination and protect operators.
  • Aluminum-Free Processing: Carboplatin reacts with aluminum to form a precipitate and lose potency. Our manufacturing equipment and needles are strictly aluminum-free to ensure product stability.

Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)

Indicated for the palliative treatment of:

  • Ovarian Carcinoma: The global standard of care (often combined with Paclitaxel) for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer.
  • Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC): Used in combination with Etoposide.
  • Head & Neck Cancer: For patients unable to tolerate Cisplatin.
  • Advanced Endometrial Cancer: Palliative therapy.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Oncologist):

  • Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion ONLY. (Over 15-60 minutes).
  • Dosing (Calvert Formula):Total Dose (mg) = (Target AUC) × (GFR + 25)*Target AUC is usually 4-6 for previously treated patients and 5-7 for untreated patients.
  • Dilution: Dilute in 5% Dextrose or 0.9% Sodium Chloride to a concentration of 0.5 mg/ml.
  • Precaution: Do not use needles or IV sets containing aluminum parts.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

  • Myelosuppression (Dose-Limiting Toxicity): Unlike Cisplatin (kidney), Carboplatin’s main side effect is Thrombocytopenia (low platelets) and Leukopenia. Bone marrow function must be monitored closely.
  • Anaphylaxis: Hypersensitivity reactions can occur, usually after several courses of therapy.
  • Pregnancy: Category D. Can cause fetal harm.
