Description
Azithromycin Injection 500mg
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of advanced macrolide antibiotics. We provide high-purity Azithromycin Injection (500mg), sourced from WHO–GMP certified sterile injectable facilities. This “Respiratory & Pelvic Guardian” is a top export to pulmonology wards, infectious disease units, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the gold standard for atypical pneumonia and severe pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
Product Overview
This formulation contains Azithromycin, an azalide (subclass of macrolide) antibiotic known for its exceptional tissue penetration and long half-life.
The “Tissue Magnet” Specialist:
- Mechanism (Protein Synthesis Stop): Azithromycin binds reversibly to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria. It blocks the translocation step of protein synthesis, effectively halting bacterial growth (bacteriostatic) or killing them (bactericidal) at high concentrations.
- Intracellular Accumulation: Unlike beta-lactams that float in the blood, Azithromycin actively concentrates inside tissues and white blood cells (phagocytes). These cells transport the drug directly to the site of infection, creating local concentrations 10 to 100 times higher than in the plasma.
- “Atypical” Coverage: It is the drug of choice for “atypical” bacteria like Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Chlamydia trachomatis, which act inside host cells and are missed by penicillins.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Lyophilization Technology: Azithromycin is sparingly soluble in water. We use advanced freeze-drying (lyophilization) with citric acid to create a stable, highly soluble cake that dissolves rapidly upon reconstitution.
- Particulate Control: Given the risk of phlebitis with macrolides, our filtration process ensures the final solution is free of micro-particulates that could irritate the vein.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the treatment of severe infections requiring initial intravenous therapy:
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP): Caused by Legionella, Mycoplasma, or S. pneumoniae.
- Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): Caused by Chlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae (often combined with Metronidazole/Ceftriaxone).
- Typhoid Fever: As an alternative in MDR Salmonella cases.
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion ONLY.
- WARNING: DO NOT give as IV Bolus or Intramuscular (IM) injection. It is highly irritating and painful.
- Standard Dose: 500 mg IV as a single daily dose for at least 2 days, followed by oral therapy.
- Administration: Reconstitute with 4.8ml WFI, then dilute further in 250ml or 500ml Saline/Dextrose. Infuse slowly over at least 60 minutes.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- QT Prolongation: Can cause abnormal heart rhythms (Torsades de Pointes). Use caution in patients with cardiac conditions or electrolyte imbalances.
- Hepatotoxicity: Rare cases of cholestatic jaundice or liver failure. Monitor liver enzymes.
- Infusion Site Reactions: Pain and inflammation (phlebitis) are common if infused too quickly or in too high a concentration (concentration should be 1-2 mg/ml).
