Product Overview

This formulation contains Adrenaline (Epinephrine), a direct-acting sympathomimetic agent acting on both α and β adrenergic receptors.

The “Fight or Flight” Hormone:

• Mechanism (Alpha-Adrenergic): Causes intense vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels). This combats the vasodilation and hypotension (low blood pressure) seen in anaphylactic shock, rapidly restoring blood pressure and reducing tissue swelling (edema).
• Mechanism (Beta-1 Adrenergic): Increases the heart rate and force of cardiac contraction. This is critical in restarting the heart during cardiac arrest (asystole).
• Mechanism (Beta-2 Adrenergic): Relaxes the smooth muscle of the bronchi (lungs). This reverses the severe wheezing and airway constriction seen in anaphylaxis and acute asthma attacks.

Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)

Indicated for life-threatening emergencies:

• Anaphylactic Shock: Severe allergic reactions to insect stings, foods, or drugs. (First-line treatment).
• Cardiac Arrest: Asystole, ventricular fibrillation, or pulseless electrical activity (PEA) to restore spontaneous circulation.
• Acute Asthma: Severe bronchospasm unresponsive to inhaled bronchodilators.
• Hemostasis: Topically applied to control bleeding from skin or mucous membranes.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Emergency Protocols):

• Anaphylaxis (IM): 0.5 mg (0.5 ml of 1:1000 solution) injected Intramuscularly (IM) into the mid-outer thigh. Repeat every 5-15 mins if necessary.
• Cardiac Arrest (IV): 1 mg (10 ml of 1:10,000 solution – diluted) intravenously every 3-5 minutes during CPR.
• Important: DO NOT give 1:1000 solution IV undiluted (risk of fatal arrhythmia/hemorrhage).

Safety Warnings:

• Discoloration (WARNING): Do not use if the solution is pink, brown, or contains precipitate. Discard immediately.
• Arrhythmias: Can cause ventricular fibrillation. Monitor ECG continuously.
• Extravasation: Causes tissue necrosis (gangrene) if leaked out of the vein. Use a large vein for IV administration.
