• Arrhythmia (IR): 240 mg to 480 mg daily in divided doses.
• Administration: Take with food to reduce gastric irritation. Do not crush SR tablets.

Safety Warnings:

• Constipation (Common): Verapamil relaxes smooth muscle in the gut, causing severe constipation in ~30% of patients. Increase fiber/fluid intake.
• Heart Block (CONTRAINDICATION): DO NOT USE in patients with 2nd or 3rd-degree AV block or Sick Sinus Syndrome (unless a pacemaker is present). Can cause cardiac arrest.
