Description
Verapamil Tablets
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of Non-Dihydropyridine Calcium Channel Blockers. We provide high-stability Verapamil Hydrochloride Tablets (IR & SR), sourced from WHO–GMP certified solid dosage facilities. This “Rhythm Regulator” is a top export to cardiology institutes, arrhythmia clinics, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as a critical therapy for rate control in Atrial Fibrillation and management of Angina.
Product Overview
This formulation contains Verapamil Hydrochloride, a phenylalkylamine class calcium channel blocker.
The “Rate & Rhythm” Specialist:
- Mechanism (Non-DHP Action): Unlike Amlodipine (which affects blood vessels only), Verapamil is a Non-Dihydropyridine (Non-DHP) CCB. It exerts a potent effect directly on the heart muscle (myocardium) and the electrical conduction system.
- Negative Chronotropy: It slows the firing of the Sinoatrial (SA) node and slows conduction through the Atrioventricular (AV) node. This makes it ideal for slowing down a racing heart (Supraventricular Tachycardia).
- Negative Inotropy: It reduces the force of cardiac contraction, thereby lowering the heart’s oxygen demand—crucial for relieving Angina pain.
- Vasodilation: It also relaxes coronary and peripheral arteries, lowering blood pressure.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- SR Matrix Technology: Verapamil has a short half-life requiring 3-4 daily doses. Our SR 240mg Tablets use a hydrophilic HPMC matrix that swells to form a gel layer, controlling drug release over 24 hours. This allows for convenient once-daily dosing.
- First-Pass Metabolism: Verapamil undergoes extensive metabolism in the liver. Our formulation accounts for this bio-variability to ensuring consistent therapeutic plasma levels.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the management of cardiovascular disorders:
- Angina Pectoris: Chronic stable angina, unstable angina, and Prinzmetal’s (variant) angina (coronary spasm).
- Arrhythmias: Control of rapid ventricular rate in Atrial Fibrillation/Flutter and prophylaxis of Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT).
- Hypertension: Essential hypertension (SR formulations preferred).
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Cardiologist):
- Route: Oral.
- Angina (IR): 80 mg to 120 mg three times daily.
- Hypertension (SR): Start with 120 mg or 180 mg once daily in the morning. Titrate to 240 mg daily.
- Arrhythmia (IR): 240 mg to 480 mg daily in divided doses.
- Administration: Take with food to reduce gastric irritation. Do not crush SR tablets.
Safety Warnings:
- Constipation (Common): Verapamil relaxes smooth muscle in the gut, causing severe constipation in ~30% of patients. Increase fiber/fluid intake.
- Heart Block (CONTRAINDICATION): DO NOT USE in patients with 2nd or 3rd-degree AV block or Sick Sinus Syndrome (unless a pacemaker is present). Can cause cardiac arrest.
- Beta-Blocker Interaction: Caution when combining with Beta-blockers (e.g., Atenolol) as both slow the heart rate. Risk of severe bradycardia.
- Grapefruit Juice: Increases Verapamil levels significantly. Avoid consumption.
