Description
Frusemide (Furosemide) Tablets
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of high-potency “High Ceiling” diuretics. We provide high-purity Frusemide (Furosemide) Tablets, sourced from WHO–GMP certified solid dosage facilities. This critical fluid-management agent is a top export to emergency departments, nephrology units, and cardiovascular centers in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the most powerful oral tool for rapidly reducing life-threatening edema and fluid overload.
Product Overview
This formulation contains Frusemide (also known as Furosemide), a sulfonamide-derived loop diuretic.
The “High Ceiling” Specialist:
- Mechanism: It acts on the thick ascending limb of the Loop of Henle in the kidney. It specifically inhibits the Na+/K+/2Cl- (NKCC2) co-transporter system, blocking the reabsorption of sodium, chloride, and potassium.
- “High Ceiling” Effect: Unlike thiazides, Frusemide has a steep dose-response curve. This means increasing the dose continues to increase urine output (“breaking the ceiling”), making it effective even in patients with severe renal impairment where other diuretics fail.
- Rapid Onset: Oral tablets typically induce diuresis within 30 to 60 minutes, providing quick relief from breathlessness caused by fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema).
- Venodilation: Before diuresis even starts, it causes mild dilation of the veins, rapidly reducing the pressure on the heart (preload).

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Photostability: Frusemide is highly sensitive to light (photolabile) and will discolor if exposed. We use amber-colored PVC or opaque Alu-Alu blisters to ensure the product remains stable and effective throughout its shelf life.
- Dissolution: For the 500mg high-dose tablet, disintegration time is critical. Our specialized granulation process ensures the large tablet breaks down rapidly to deliver the massive dose required for patients with compromised kidney function.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the treatment of edema and hypertension:
- Edema (Fluid Retention): Associated with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Cirrhosis of the Liver (Ascites), and Renal Disease (Nephrotic Syndrome).
- Acute Pulmonary Edema: Rapid removal of fluid from the lungs.
- Hypertension: Management of high blood pressure, particularly when complicated by kidney impairment (where thiazides are ineffective).
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician/Nephrologist):
- Route: Oral.
- Edema (Adults): Initial dose of 20 mg to 80 mg as a single dose. If needed, repeat the same dose 6 to 8 hours later.
- Hypertension: 40 mg twice daily.
- Renal Failure (High Dose): 250 mg to 1500 mg daily (Strictly titrated in hospital settings).
- Timing: Take in the morning. Taking it late in the day causes “Nocturia” (waking up to urinate), which disrupts sleep.
Safety Warnings:
- Hypokalemia (Low Potassium): The most common side effect. It washes potassium out of the body, which can cause heart arrhythmias and muscle cramps. Patients are often prescribed Potassium supplements (K-Cl) or advised to eat bananas/oranges.
- Ototoxicity: High doses or rapid IV injection can cause temporary or permanent hearing loss (tinnitus/deafness). Use caution with other ototoxic drugs (e.g., Gentamicin).
- Sulfa Allergy: Chemically related to sulfonamides. Use with caution in patients with severe sulfa allergies.
- Dehydration: Can cause excessive fluid loss leading to hypotension and collapse (especially in elderly).
