Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion or Deep IM Injection.
- Adults: 1.125 g to 2.25 g once daily.
- Severe Infections: 2.25 g once daily (or divided every 12 hours).
- Children: 50-75 mg/kg (Ceftriaxone component) once daily.
- Reconstitution: Dissolve 1.125g vial in 10ml WFI/Saline. Shake vigorously.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Calcium Interaction (FATAL): NEVER mix with Calcium-containing solutions (like Ringer’s Lactate). It causes fatal precipitation in lungs/kidneys. CONTRAINDICATED in Neonates requiring calcium.
- Kernicterus: CONTRAINDICATED in Neonates (< 28 days) as it displaces bilirubin.
- Penicillin Allergy: Cross-reactivity is possible. Use with caution.
