Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion or Deep IM Injection.
• Adults: 1.125 g to 2.25 g every 8 hours.
• Severe Infections (Pseudomonas): 2.25 g every 8 hours.
• Renal Impairment: Dose adjustment is mandatory if Creatinine Clearance < 50 ml/min.
• Reconstitution Note: When adding water, the solution will bubble (effervesce) due to CO2 release. This is normal. Vent the vial with a needle to release pressure before withdrawing the dose.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Penicillin Allergy: Cross-reactivity is possible. Use with caution in penicillin-allergic patients. CONTRAINDICATED in anaphylaxis history.
• C. difficile Diarrhea: Prolonged use can alter gut flora, leading to severe colitis.
• Sodium Content: Each 1g contains approx. 50mg sodium. Monitor in heart failure patients.
