Product Overview
Amikacin is a semi-synthetic Aminoglycoside derived from Kanamycin. It is renowned for its resistance to bacterial enzymes that inactivate other aminoglycosides (like Gentamicin and Tobramycin).
It is the “Resistance Breaker” for:
- Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria: Highly effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli, Proteus, Klebsiella, and Enterobacter.
- Severe Infections: Septicemia, respiratory tract infections, and joint infections where first-line antibiotics have failed.
- Intra-uterine Use: Treatment of endometritis in mares.

Dosage & Administration

- Horses: 6 mg to 10 mg per kg body weight via IM or IV.
- Intra-uterine (Mares): 2 grams mixed with 200ml sterile saline daily for 3 days.
