Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Hepatologist):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion ONLY. (Dilution Mandatory).
• Standard Dose (Chronic): 5 g (1 ampoule) daily.
• Severe Case (Coma/Pre-coma): Up to 20 g to 40 g (4-8 ampoules) daily.
• Infusion Rate: Max 5 g per hour.
• Dilution Protocol (CRITICAL):
  • Mix ampoule contents in at least 500 ml of Saline, Dextrose 5%, or Ringer’s Lactate.
  • Do not inject undiluted. (Hypertonic solution causes vein damage).

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Renal Function: Contraindicated in severe renal failure (Creatinine > 3 mg/dl). The kidneys must be functional to excrete the urea produced.
• Nausea/Vomiting: Caused by rapid infusion. If this occurs, slow down the infusion rate.
• Fructose Intolerance: Caution in patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance (due to metabolic pathways).
