Product Overview

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Injection or Infusion ONLY.
• Standard Dose (GERD): 40 mg once daily.
• Prevention of Rebleeding (High Risk):
  • Bolus: 80 mg IV bolus over 30 minutes.
  • Maintenance: Followed by continuous IV infusion of 8 mg/hour for 72 hours.
• Administration:
  • Injection: Reconstitute with 5 ml Saline. Inject over 3 minutes.
  • Infusion: Reconstitute and dilute in 100 ml Saline. Infuse over 10-30 minutes.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Clopidogrel Interaction: Esomeprazole inhibits CYP2C19, which can reduce the activation of Clopidogrel (blood thinner), increasing stroke/heart attack risk. Avoid combination if possible.
• Hypomagnesemia: Long-term use (usually oral, but relevant for chronic patients) depletes magnesium. Monitor levels in ICU patients.
• C. difficile Risk: PPIs increase the risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea by reducing gastric acid defense.
