Description
Ceftazidime Injection
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of anti-pseudomonal third-generation cephalosporins. We provide high-purity Ceftazidime Pentahydrate Injection (1g / 250mg), sourced from WHO–GMP certified sterile injectable facilities. This “Pseudomonas Hunter” is a top export to cystic fibrosis centers, burn units, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the gold standard cephalosporin for treating difficult Gram-negative infections, particularly *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*.
Product Overview
This formulation contains Ceftazidime, a third-generation cephalosporin with the highest anti-pseudomonal activity in its class.
The “Pseudomonas” Specialist:
- The Gram-Negative King: Unlike Ceftriaxone or Cefotaxime, Ceftazidime has potent, specific activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a notoriously resistant hospital pathogen. It is the drug of choice for hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).
- Cystic Fibrosis (CF): It is a cornerstone therapy for acute pulmonary exacerbations in Cystic Fibrosis patients colonized with Pseudomonas.
- CNS Penetration: It crosses the blood-brain barrier well when meninges are inflamed, making it essential for treating meningitis caused by Gram-negative bacilli (like Pseudomonas or Haemophilus).

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Gas Release Management: Ceftazidime releases Carbon Dioxide (CO2) upon reconstitution due to the Sodium Carbonate buffer. This “effervescence” helps the powder dissolve. Our vials are designed with extra headspace and reinforced glass to handle this pressure safely.
- Sterile Crystallization: We use advanced sterile crystallization to produce a free-flowing powder that dissolves rapidly (within 1-2 minutes) despite the CO2 generation, ensuring nurses don’t struggle with “clumping.”
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by Gram-negative aerobes:
- Respiratory Tract: Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia (HAP) involving Pseudomonas.
- Cystic Fibrosis: Lung infections caused by P. aeruginosa or Burkholderia cepacia.
- Febrile Neutropenia: Empirical therapy (often monotherapy) in immunocompromised patients.
- Meningitis: Caused by Gram-negative bacilli.
- Urinary Tract: Complicated UTIs and Pyelonephritis.
- Skin & Soft Tissue: Severe burns and infected ulcers.
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion or Deep IM Injection.
- Adults: 1 g to 2 g every 8 hours.
- Severe Infections (Meningitis/CF): 2 g every 8 hours (Max 6g/day).
- Children: 30-50 mg/kg every 8 hours.
- Reconstitution Note: When diluent is added, the solution will bubble (CO2). Vent the vial with a needle to release pressure before withdrawing the dose.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Penicillin Allergy: CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of anaphylaxis to beta-lactams.
- Neurotoxicity: In patients with renal failure, accumulation can cause seizures or encephalopathy. Dose reduction is mandatory if GFR < 50 ml/min.
- Clostridium difficile: Can cause antibiotic-associated colitis.
