Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion or Deep IM Injection.
• Adults: 1 g to 2 g every 8 hours.
• Severe Infections (Meningitis/CF): 2 g every 8 hours (Max 6g/day).
• Children: 30-50 mg/kg every 8 hours.
• Reconstitution Note: When diluent is added, the solution will bubble (CO2). Vent the vial with a needle to release pressure before withdrawing the dose.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Penicillin Allergy: CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of anaphylaxis to beta-lactams.
• Neurotoxicity: In patients with renal failure, accumulation can cause seizures or encephalopathy. Dose reduction is mandatory if GFR < 50 ml/min.
• Clostridium difficile: Can cause antibiotic-associated colitis.
