Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion Preferred. (Deep IM possible with Lidocaine).
• Standard Adult Dose: 2 g (1 vial) every 12 hours.
• Severe Infections: 2 g every 8 hours (Total 6g/day).
• Renal Impairment: Dosage regimen should be adjusted based on Sulbactam clearance if GFR < 30 ml/min. (Cefoperazone requires no adjustment).
• Reconstitution: Dissolve 2g vial in 10-20ml WFI/Saline. Shake vigorously.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Disulfiram-like Reaction (ALCOHOL WARNING): Strictly NO ALCOHOL for 72 hours after injection. The NMTT side chain blocks alcohol metabolism, causing severe vomiting, flushing, and shock.
• Bleeding Risk: Prolonged use may cause Vitamin K deficiency (Hypoprothrombinemia). Monitor PT/INR in elderly or malnourished patients.
• Allergy: CONTRAINDICATED in penicillin/cephalosporin anaphylaxis.
