Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Injection or Infusion ONLY. (Never administer Intramuscularly).
• Standard Dose: 40 mg once daily.
• Severe GI Bleed Protocol: An initial bolus of 80 mg IV, followed by a continuous infusion of 8 mg/hour for 72 hours.
• Administration (Injection): Reconstitute with the provided solvent. Inject slowly over at least 2.5 to 5 minutes at a maximum rate of 4 ml/min.
• Administration (Infusion): Dissolve the 40 mg vial in 100 ml of 0.9% Sodium Chloride or 5% Dextrose. Infuse over 20 to 30 minutes.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Reconstitution Error: Omeprazole for IV Injection is physically incompatible with many other IV drugs due to its high pH. Flush IV lines thoroughly before and after administration. Do not mix with other medications.
• Gastrointestinal Infections: Deep acid suppression slightly increases the risk of hospital-acquired infections, such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD).
