Olanzapine for Injection

Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of advanced psychiatric and neuro-calming therapies. We provide high-purity Olanzapine for Injection (10 mg), manufactured in WHO–GMP certified sterile lyophilization facilities. This “Atypical Antipsychotic” is a mandatory export to psychiatric emergency wards, acute behavioral units, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as the frontline chemical restraint for the rapid control of severe agitation in schizophrenia and bipolar mania.

Product Overview

This formulation contains Olanzapine, a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic belonging to the thienobenzodiazepine class.

The “Rapid De-escalation” Specialist:

  • Mechanism (Dual Antagonism): Olanzapine exerts its primary antipsychotic and calming effects through high-affinity antagonism at Serotonin (5-HT2A/2C) and Dopamine (D1-4, specifically D2) receptors in the brain. The 5-HT2A blockade helps reduce the extrapyramidal motor side effects commonly seen with older, typical antipsychotics like Haloperidol.
  • Broad Receptor Profile: It also blocks Histamine (H1), Muscarinic (M1-5), and Alpha-1 adrenergic receptors. The H1 blockade is primarily responsible for its rapid, profound sedative effect, which is highly desirable in emergency psychiatric settings.
  • Acute Agitation Standard: It provides a rapid onset of action (within 15 to 45 minutes) to safely de-escalate aggressive, combative, or severely agitated patients without the respiratory depression risks associated with high-dose pure sedatives, provided it is administered correctly.

Manufacturing Authority

Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.

  • Solubility Optimization: Olanzapine base is practically insoluble in water. Our lyophilized formulation utilizes Tartaric Acid to form a highly soluble tartrate salt in situ upon reconstitution, ensuring a rapid dissolving time (under 1 minute) which is critical during psychiatric emergencies.
  • Light Sensitivity: The active ingredient is highly sensitive to light degradation. Vials must be kept in their original cartons until the exact moment of emergency administration.

Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)

Indicated for the rapid control of agitation in psychiatric emergencies:

  • Schizophrenia: Acute agitation in adult patients.
  • Bipolar I Disorder: Acute agitation associated with manic or mixed episodes.
  • Emergency Psychiatry: De-escalation of severe behavioral disturbances where oral therapy is refused or not feasible.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Psychiatrist/Emergency Physician):

  • Route: Intramuscular (IM) Injection ONLY. (Inject deep into the gluteal muscle).
  • CRITICAL WARNING: NEVER ADMINISTER INTRAVENOUSLY (IV) OR SUBCUTANEOUSLY (SC).
  • Adult Dose: 5 mg to 10 mg as a single IM injection.
  • Maximum Dose: Up to 3 injections in a 24-hour period (Max 30 mg/day), separated by at least 2 to 4 hours.
  • Elderly/Debilitated: Start with a lower dose (2.5 mg to 5 mg).

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

  • Benzodiazepine Interaction (FATAL): Concomitant administration of IM Olanzapine and parenteral benzodiazepines (e.g., IM Lorazepam) is highly contraindicated due to the risk of excessive somnolence, respiratory depression, bradycardia, and sudden death. Allow at least 1-2 hours between these medications.
  • Elderly Dementia Risk: Increased risk of mortality and cerebrovascular adverse events (strokes, TIAs) in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis.
  • Orthostatic Hypotension: Because of alpha-1 blockade, sudden drops in blood pressure (syncope) can occur. Monitor vital signs post-injection and keep the patient recumbent if necessary.
