Description

Cefepime & Sulbactam Injection

Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of high-stability antibiotic combinations. We provide high-purity Cefepime & Sulbactam Injection (1.5 g), sourced from WHO–GMP certified sterile injectable facilities. This “Broad-Spectrum Shield” is a top export to neurosurgery wards, intensive care units (ICU), and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as a critical empirical therapy for MDR *Acinetobacter* and *Pseudomonas* infections.

Product Overview

This formulation combines Cefepime, a fourth-generation zwitterionic cephalosporin, with Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor.

The “Neuro-Safe” Specialist:

  • Synergy (The “Acinetobacter” Killer): While Cefepime covers *Pseudomonas* and *Enterobacter*, it is vulnerable to some beta-lactamases. Sulbactam not only inhibits these enzymes but also possesses intrinsic antibacterial activity against *Acinetobacter baumannii*. This makes the combination a powerful weapon against ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in ICUs.
  • Zwitterionic Speed: Cefepime’s dipolar nature allows it to penetrate the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria rapidly, evading efflux pumps better than older cephalosporins.
  • CNS Penetration: Both Cefepime and Sulbactam cross the blood-brain barrier well when meninges are inflamed, making this combination useful for treating post-neurosurgical meningitis caused by resistant organisms.

Manufacturing Authority

Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.

  • Arginine Buffering: We use L-Arginine to buffer the Cefepime component. This improves solubility and reduces the sodium load compared to traditional sodium carbonate buffers, which is beneficial for ICU patients with fluid restrictions.
  • Hygroscopicity Management: Sulbactam is extremely sensitive to moisture. Our manufacturing process uses ultra-low humidity isolators (< 20% RH) to ensure the powder remains free-flowing and does not cake, guaranteeing rapid reconstitution.

Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)

Indicated for the treatment of severe, life-threatening infections:

  • Nosocomial Meningitis: Post-surgical meningitis caused by resistant Gram-negatives.
  • Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP): Particularly when *Acinetobacter* or *Pseudomonas* is suspected.
  • Febrile Neutropenia: Empirical therapy for immunocompromised cancer patients.
  • Complicated Intra-abdominal Infections: Peritonitis (covers anaerobes).
  • Severe UTIs: Pyelonephritis caused by MDR *E. coli*.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

  • Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion Preferred. (Can be given Deep IM).
  • Adults: 1.5 g to 3 g every 12 hours.
  • Severe Infections / Meningitis: 3 g every 8 hours.
  • Renal Impairment (CRITICAL): Dose adjustment is mandatory if Creatinine Clearance < 50 ml/min. Both drugs accumulate in renal failure.
  • Reconstitution: Dissolve 1.5g vial in 10-20ml WFI/Saline. Solution turns pale yellow to amber.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

  • Neurotoxicity (Encephalopathy): Accumulation of Cefepime in renal failure patients can cause confusion, myoclonus, and seizures. Monitor renal function daily.
  • Penicillin Allergy: CONTRAINDICATED in patients with a history of anaphylaxis to beta-lactams.
  • Superinfection: Prolonged use may result in fungal or *Clostridium difficile* overgrowth.
