Description
Thiocolchicoside Injection
Healthy Inc is a specialized global supplier and exporter of advanced musculoskeletal and orthopedic therapies. We provide high-purity Thiocolchicoside Injection (4 mg / 2 ml & 8 mg / 2 ml), manufactured in WHO–GMP certified sterile facilities. This “Centrally Acting Muscle Relaxant” is a mandatory export to orthopedic centers, rheumatology clinics, sports medicine units, and government health ministries in Africa, LATAM, and Southeast Asia, serving as a rapid-response intervention for acute, painful muscle spasms and contractures.
Product Overview
This formulation contains Thiocolchicoside, a semi-synthetic sulfur derivative of colchicoside, a naturally occurring glucoside extracted from the seeds of the Gloriosa superba plant.
The “Spasmolytic” Specialist:
- Mechanism (GABA & Glycine Interaction): Unlike many muscle relaxants that cause profound CNS depression, Thiocolchicoside acts selectively. It binds strongly as a competitive antagonist to GABA-A and strychnine-sensitive glycine receptors in the central nervous system. This specific receptor interaction suppresses the hyper-excitability of motor neurons, effectively breaking the cycle of painful muscle spasms without paralyzing voluntary muscle function.
- The Non-Sedating Advantage: A major clinical advantage of Thiocolchicoside is its muscle-relaxing efficacy without the heavy sedation, cognitive impairment, or respiratory depression typically seen with benzodiazepines (like Diazepam) or older centrally acting relaxants.
- Acute Relief: It provides rapid, targeted relief for severe, acute musculoskeletal contractures, allowing patients to begin physiotherapy and mobilization much sooner.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Photosensitivity & Degradation Control: Thiocolchicoside solutions are highly susceptible to photodegradation, which can alter its complex glycoside structure. Our manufacturing process utilizes strict amber glass packaging and UV-filtered lighting during compounding to ensure absolute molecular stability and visual clarity (maintaining its characteristic yellow hue).
- Isotonicity Calibration: The formulation is precisely calibrated with Sodium Chloride to ensure pain-free intramuscular administration and maximum tissue absorption at the injection site.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the adjuvant treatment of painful muscle contractures in acute spinal pathology:
- Acute Torticollis: Severe neck spasms (wry neck).
- Acute Lumbago & Sciatica: Sudden, intense lower back pain and associated muscle guarding.
- Post-Traumatic Spasms: Muscle contractures following sports injuries or orthopedic trauma.
- Post-Operative Spasms: Short-term management following spinal or orthopedic surgery.
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):
- Route: Intramuscular (IM) Injection ONLY.
- Standard Adult Dose: 4 mg injected intramuscularly every 12 hours.
- DURATION LIMIT (CRITICAL): Parenteral (IM) treatment must be restricted to a maximum of 3 to 5 consecutive days. Prolonged use is strictly prohibited.
- Pediatric Use: Contraindicated in children and adolescents under 16 years of age.
Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):
- Genotoxicity & Aneuploidy Risk: One of the metabolites of thiocolchicoside (M2) has been shown to cause aneuploidy (an abnormal number of chromosomes) in dividing cells. Therefore, systemic use must be strictly limited to short-term therapy to mitigate potential genotoxic risks.
- Pregnancy & Lactation (ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATION): FATAL RISK TO FETUS. Strictly contraindicated during pregnancy, lactation, and in women of childbearing potential not using effective contraception.
- Seizure Risk: Use with extreme caution in patients with a history of epilepsy or those at risk of seizures, as it may lower the seizure threshold.
- Vasovagal Syncope: Rarely, IM injection may trigger sudden hypotension or fainting; patients should be monitored briefly post-injection.
