Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician):

• Route: Intravenous (IV) Infusion or Deep IM Injection.
• Adults: 600 mg to 1.2 g per day (in 2-4 divided doses).
• Severe Infections: 1.2 g to 2.7 g per day (up to 4.8 g for life-threatening cases).
• Children: 20 to 40 mg/kg/day in 3 or 4 divided doses.
• IV Administration: DO NOT give as a Bolus. Infuse over 10-60 minutes. Rapid injection causes cardiac arrest.

Safety Warnings (CRITICAL):

• Clostridium difficile (Black Box Warning): Clindamycin is strongly associated with Pseudomembranous Colitis (severe diarrhea). Discontinue immediately if bloody diarrhea occurs.
• Cardiac Arrest: Rapid IV administration can cause profound hypotension and cardiopulmonary arrest. Always dilute and infuse slowly.
• Benzyl Alcohol: Contains benzyl alcohol; do not use in neonates (Gasping Syndrome).
